The BOHEMIANS

The BOHEMIANS is a cinematic adaptation of Puccini's acclaimed eternal love story, the beautiful opera "La Bohème". Our version takes place in the world's bohemian capital: Williamsburg, Brooklyn - where the combination of artists of all calibers and styles make the perfect setting for a contemporary production of this musical masterpiece.

A high level of musical excellence is achieved with a cast of young, talented singers and the world-class YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF THE AMERICAS - with graduates from the top music schools - wonderfully conducted by MILOS REPICKY.

The BOHEMIANS was made possible under the leadership of director JOSÉ LUIS R. CORTÉS, producer ÁLVARO DOMINGO - son of operatic super star PLÁCIDO DOMINGO - and co-producers ADAM MARGULIES and MATTHIAS SCHMITT.

The musical production is led by renowed producer and audio engineer -and twelve time grammy award winner- RAFA SARDINA. Original music and musical arrangements were made by award winning composer EDY LAN.

Story

This is the story of TWO PEOPLE AND THEIR QUEST FOR LOVE during trying times in their lives. MIMÌ AND RODOLFO meet by CHANCE, and their fates, as well as that of their friends', become intertwined with JEALOUSIES, SICKNESS, former LOVERS, one cold WINTER, and many EMPTY POCKETS.

On Christmas Eve Mimì is alone in her studio apartment in Brooklyn, NY. She finds respite from her sickness and melancholy in listening to her downstairs neighbors: a noisy group of struggling bohemian artists.

As fate has it, a power outage strikes and she decides to reach out to her neighbors. Rodolfo, a not-so-lucky screenwriter, opens the door. They fall in love at first sight.

Unaware of the seriousness of Mimì’s condition, they start dating. A winter of roller coaster emotions follows for the couple, as her health worsens while Rodolfo’s mistrust and fears consume him.

Will jealousies, sickness, former lovers, a cold winter and empty pockets end up separating the young lovers?

Maybe love is just not enough
